Cilantro is an annual herbaceous plant indigenous to southern Europe and the
Middle East. It is valued for both its fresh growth and its seeds, which, unusually, have a very different aroma and taste from the leaves; for more on the
history and background of cilantro, which is sometimes referred to as fresh coriander.
